Struggling Real Madrid Said to Be Eyeing Pochettino After Champions League Showing

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is prepared to remain at the London club for the long haul but believes the length of his tenure is ultimately out of his hands.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane is once again under pressure to save his job after Wednesday's shock Copa del Rey exit to Leganes.

"I'm so young and only five years in the Premier League, in two clubs Southampton and Tottenham, but there's no point to talk about another team", Pochettino said in a press conference, as reported by ESPN.

Oh, with the obvious exception of Zinedine Zidane.

'You never know what will happen in football, ' said Pochettino, before stating the sides he could definitely rule out.

Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Tottenham are ready to act in the final days of the January transfer window.

"They're not near challenging for the title, and if they don't get into the top four, will Levy look at it and think they've gone backwards?"

Newport's pitch, which they share with two rugby union teams, is expected to prove a leveller. It's a similar situation.

The Argentine, who previously coached Espanyol, has been linked with the Los Blancos job on more than one occasion, and is apparently on Florentino Perez's shortlist to replace the Frenchman.

Pochettino says he is committed to Spurs with three years left on his current deal.

"He has been one of our most important players", the manager said ahead of Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie away to Newport County.

Tottenham faces a battle to retain Mauricio Pochettino's services after Real Madrid reportedly made contact about its managerial position.

"It will be a very tough and dangerous game".

"[We need to] put ourselves in the same level as them, same motivation". However, Balague questions Madrid's ability to lure one of Spurs' prized assets away from them.

Pochettino also suggested Sissoko was judged too early at Spurs. That's why football is so beautiful and such an amazing sport.

The Argentinean coach spent time in charge at Espanyol, before coming to the Premier League and there is a fierce rivalry between Espanyol and Barcelona. "If at the end of the year we win the Champions League it will be an incredible year", Cristiano Ronaldo - whose own decline has been a source of huge concern - said.

"It's not about going there and, just because we're Tottenham, we're going to win". The club's youngsters and fringe players have not had the desired impact, while the club have missed Alvaro Morata, James Rodriguez and Pepe, who all departed in the summer.
