Elon Musk Unveiling Tesla's Electric Semi Truck This Week

Tesla is about to unveil an electric truck this coming Thursday and, as ever, CEO Elon Musk is keen to keep expectations at a reasonable level.

And then there's Tesla tsla , which is putting semi-autonomous cars into the hands of increasing numbers of people-but which is also having big-time production problems with its latest car, the Model 3 sedan.

Three newly fired SolarCity workers (who worked in different city offices, and were contacted discretely according to CNBC) said they asked HR department at Tesla for a copy of their performance assessment reviews.

Tesla's electric big-rig truck could have a working range of 200 to 300 miles to compete with more conventional diesels.

Now, invites for the launch have finally been sent out - and reveal a new silhouette of the vehicle. The video from New Scientist proposed that robot soldiers could make decisions free from emotions, especially fear, which means they might be able to better fight than humans, "Letting robots kill without human supervision could save lives", read the first sequence in the video.

Some users claim the vehicle was accidentally been revealed on the back of a trailer last month - although Elon Musk disputes this.

The truck's shape resembles the shadowy rendering Tesla previously teased.

Toni Sacconaghi Jr. and David Vernon, who maintain a $265 price target for shares of Tesla, note that the Silicon Valley-based company will face a significant uphill battle as it looks to enter the commercial trucking sector.

It's unclear why such a top-secret project would be sitting there uncovered for the world to see months before its unveiling, and Tesla would not confirm nor deny that it was what the poster said it was.

While Michigan officials are still blocking Tesla from fully operating in the state, Tesla sells its vehicles on the internet and there's nothing illegal about that.
